So your relationship with your partner is now over and you probably think that there is no point carrying on with your life. This is a time when you feel very vulnerable and your emotions are all over the place. This is also a time when you can start to act very irrationally and do things that you could later regret. You will also most probably find that your close friends will try and give you advice on relationships and tell you things like he or she was no good for you and that you are better off out of it.
Once you have got over the initial emotional crisis and you have had chance to take stock of the situation then you can decide whether you want a clean break or whether you want to try and win them back.
Should you decide the latter then there are things that you should not do to stand any chance of winning them back. You should not do any of the following.
Never ignore your ex, if you see them make sure you are friendly say hello and then just move on.
Never dial them up after you have had a few to drink and confess your undying love for them.
Never turn up in places where you know that they will be, as you can often be accused of stalking them and alienate them further.
You might think that to get back with your ex partner you need to show him or her how much you really care as soon as possible. In my opinion this can cause even more problems and ruin the chances of any reconciliation for good. Your best bet is to leave it at least a month before you resume any contact.
You may think that what I am saying does not make sense and that in a month you may have been forgotten about. Well think for a moment and hopefully you will understand why I am saying this.
When you first break up you are all over the place, you feel hurt, angry and probably want to seek revenge. These feelings will not go away over night and they will probably be with you for weeks to come. Therefore any contact with your ex will possibly end up with you saying things that are not true or unkind words that will make your ex feel bad.
Give them space and yourself time to reflect and you will have more chance of rekindling the flame.
